Ganesh Chaturthi

May Lord Ganesh give you – A rainbow for every storm, A smile for every tear, A promise for every care, and an answer to every prayer!

Festivals build group cohesiveness, unite people, break the monotony of routine, and energise the body, mind, and spirit. Echoing this festive spirit, the Pre-primary classes of DPS Vapi, celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with much ardour and zest, presented a special assembly on 8, September 2021. Ganesha is the first to be worshipped before starting any pious chore. He is known as the God of prosperity and wisdom who removes all obstacles, bestows happiness, and spreads peace.

The special assembly presentation by classes Pre-nursery, Nursery and Prep, commenced on a spiritual note with the chanting of the famous Ganesh shloka “Vakratunda Mahakaya Surya Koti Samaprabha |Nirvighnam Kuru Me Deva Sarva-Kaaryeshu Sarvadaa ||” The little Indianites took turns and spoke about the festival and its significance. The keen toddlers presented a skit that displayed moral virtues of devotion and obedience, synonymous with the attributes exhibited by Lord Ganesh in his life and towards his parents. The little dancing stars rocked on a medley of Ganesh songs, adding splendour to the entire assembly. The spirit of celebration and fervour was enhanced by the devotional song presentation by the choir.

The dressed-up characters added pomp to the festivity while they joined the procession with a shout-out for Lord Ganesha, “Ganpati Bappa Morya”

The tiny devotees of Class I and II moulded the beautiful idols of Lord Ganesh from kneaded flour and mud clay. The activity aimed to signify the eco-friendly celebrations of the festival. The children symbolically immersed the idols in water.

The festival awakened devotion, creativity, understanding, and learning amongst children.

Role play is the basis of all dramatic activities. The 'Dramatize the Character' Competition was held for the students of classes III and IV on Saturday, 3rd September 2022. Children came dressed up like their favourite mythological characters like Lord Shiva, Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Kartikeya, Gauri, Mooshakraj etc.  The passionate enactments were appreciated by everyone present.

The students of classes V and VI showcased their love for Ganeshji by enthusiastically participating in the clay modelling competition on the 3rd of September. During this auspicious occasion, the students indulged in the artistic creation of making little Ganesha idols with their colourful clay materials.

The judges congratulated the students on their wonderful creations and performances.

It was a joyous occasion for the students to stay more connected with their culture and roots.
